With the obesity epidemic still an ever-present issue in the United States with more than 36% of the American adult population being obese, more and more people are turning to bariatric surgery to help them deal with the disease.
The Kinesis Centre has created a curriculum, Training the Bariatric Client, to help fitness professionals better understand and prepare to help those bariatric clients to make the behavioral changes that will maximize their surgery and help them on their journey to lifelong wellness.
The online course is provided in a 2-hour presentation and covers the following topics:
-Factors that influence obesity
-Weight discrimination and its consequences
-Different types of bariatric surgeries and how they work
-Considerations for exercise programming
-Strategies to boost your business within the bariatric community
The Kinesis Centre is recognized by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (0.2 CEUs), the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (2.0 CEUs), and the International Sports Sciences Association (2.0 CEUs) as a Continuing Education Provider.
Your Instructor
Jorge Teller has a B.S. in Kinesiology from Pennsylvania State University. He started working with weight loss surgical clients following their surgery over 10 years ago. He has spoken with some of the top surgeons in the country to better understand bariatric surgery, meld it with his knowledge of exercise physiology, and bring you this course.
He has authored articles for ObesityHelp and was a speaker at the 2017 ObesityHelp National Conference in Long Beach, CA.
